In Memory

Charles Randal Hylton* - Class Of 1972

Charles Randal Hylton. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Our dear brother, father, grandfather and friend left his earthly body at 4 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, with his daughters by his side. Born Feb. 20, 1954, in Beckley, he was the son of Cora Jane Hylton of Greystone Inn and the late Jack Allen Hylton. Those left to cherish his memory besides his mother are his two daughters, Crystal Arrington and husband, Wes, of Oak Hill and Miranda Hylton of Ridgecrest, Calif.; four granddaughters, Marissa, Kyra, Haylie and Piper; a stepson, Lonnie Tolliver and wife, Kerri; two brothers, Willy Hylton of Hinton and Larry Hylton of Beckley; a sister, Rita Hutchens of Piney View; a host of nieces and nephews; and two very special sisters-in-law, Pat and Sally Hylton. Mr. Hylton grew up in Beckley and graduated from WWHS in 1972. He left Beckley in 1986 to the Fredericksburg and Woodbridge, Va., areas. He worked at the Washington Post Robinson Terminal for 12 years until his retirement. In 2006 he moved back to Stanaford. He attended Stanaford Road Baptist Church. Anyone who came to his house went away blessed. He loved company and to tell stories. He loved gardening and to watch his flowers and plants grow from seed. His favorite flower was the sunflower. So if you come to Stanaford in the summer, look for the tall sunflower plants and smile. He was an avid reader and coin collector. He was generous and always thinking of others, even in his time of hardship. The family wishes to thank Hospice and Bowers House and a very special love and thank you to his Amy, Joann and Jim Fink. Mr. Hylton gave a last special gift for his body to be donated to West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. A celebration of his life will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Stanaford Road Baptist Church, 575 Stanaford Road, Beckley, with Pastor Lyell Zickafoose officiating. Friends and family will gather one hour before service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Randy Hylton to Stanaford Road Baptist Church. Submitted by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. [WWHS ’72]
