Johnnie Alfred Jessup, age 56, of Beckley, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at his home following a long illness. Born on August 1, 1952, at Stanaford, W.Va., he was the son of Patty Adkins Jessup of Beckley, and the late Carnish Alton Jessup. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Roger Jessup, and a nephew, Bobby Foster. Mr. Jessup was a Marine Corps veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former delivery person in the furniture business. Surviving, other than his mother, are his brothers and sisters: Alton Jessup of Phoenix, Arizona, Alvin Jessup of Beckley, Carol Jessup of Beckley, Lucille “Lucy” Jessup Easler of Beaufort, S.C.; Aunt Lila Hopkins of Beckley; six nieces, five great-nieces; four nephews, and nine great-nephews. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with Reverend Jack Easler officiating.
