David Earl Williams* - Class Of 1970

On Thursday, July 2, 2009, our beloved David Earl Williams, of the McLean Addition, Beckley passed away at his home following a short illness. David was 56 years of age. Born on November 15, 1952, in Beckley he was the second of two children born to Patricia Moore Williams of Beckley and the late James Earl Williams Jr. David’s paternal grandparents, James Earl and Josephine Williams and maternal grandparents, Oral and Maude Moore preceded him in death. David grew up on Quarry Street. He was a 1970 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He worked as a salesman for several major car dealerships in the Beckley area. In 1998 he established Cornerstone Used Auto Sales on West Neville Street. A member of the Memorial Baptist Church, he loved boating, fishing and waterskiing. He had been a resident of the McLean addition since 1995. In addition to his father and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, William Dixie and Dorothy Cloe Combs Jr. At the end of the day David Williams will be remembered for his love of family. He loved spending time with his grandson Trenton and was very excited about the impending birth of his grandson by his son Scott and his wife Erin. He was proud of the fact that his family name would carry on. In addition to his loving mother Patricia, David is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda Combs Williams, he is the dear father of Lindsay Williams and her companion, Sean Kolb of Beckley and Scott Williams and his wife Erin of High Point, N.C.; the doting grandfather of Trenton Michael Kolb; the fond brother of Dianne Facello of Beckley; the good brother-in-law, of William “Al” Combs and his wife Ellen of Beckley; the special uncle of Jennifer and Amanda Facello, Casey McGuire and Billy Combs. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Paul Blizard officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of the services. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family suggests donations of sympathy can be made to the Children’s’ Programs at the Memorial Baptist Church, 1405 S.
