Robert “Bobby” Lowe* - Class Of 1980

On Monday, January 11, 2010, our beloved Robert “Bobby” Lowe of Garfield Street, Beckley, passed away. He was 48 years of age. Born Robert Paul Lowe on January 6, 1962, at Beckley, he was the youngest of five children born to the late Robert Hampton and Leona Virginia Pendry Lowe. His infant brothers, Michael Hampton and David Randall Lowe, preceded him in death. Bobby, as he was affectionately known all his life, was a lifelong resident of Garfield Street. He grew up attending the United Methodist Temple with his parents and sisters. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1980, he studied to be a master electrician and has been employed by the Raleigh County Board of Education since 1984. He loved to hunt and fish. When anyone was around Bobby Lowe for any length of time, you always heard three words, “Jenny, Danielle and Jared.” He loved his wife and children and his conversations would always come around to them. Bobby Lowe had a good heart. If you ever needed help on something at your home, he was the person you called. He didn’t let you down. He had a soft spot for the elderly people in this community who could always count on him. At the end of the day we realize that all of us have our struggles and our dark times. For Bobby Lowe those times are over. Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God that passeth all understanding…” Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 23 years, Jennifer Leigh Lowe. He was the PROUD father of Leah Danielle Lowe, a senior at West Virginia University, and Robert Jared Lowe, a senior at Woodrow Wilson High School; the fond brother of Elizabeth Sharon Lowe Browning and her husband Ronald and Kathryn Lynn Lowe Sparks and her husband Michael, all of Beckley; the uncle of several nieces and nephews; Jenny’s family, Leta Lester and her husband Raymond of Gilbert, Glenda “Butch” Cline and her husband Jerry of Baisden, DeWayne Cline and his wife Mavis and Christine Cline all of Gilbert. Bobby was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Nancy and Leck Cline, and a brother-in-law, Robert Cline. Countless friends and co-workers also survive. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Revs. Craig Stevens and DeWayne Cline officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of the services. In keeping with his wishes Bobby will be cremated following his services. His ashes will be interred in his parents’ graves at Forest Hill. “So Go Rest High On That Mountain,” where your parents sleep, Bobby Lowe, and remember, “That you are loved.” Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.meltonmortuary.com.
