Walter “Keith” Smith*

Walter “Keith” Smith, 51, of 305 Hunter Street, Beckley, WV, peacefully went home on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Raleigh General Hospital. Keith was born July 18, 1961, in Beckley, WV, to the late Clarence R. Smith, Jr., and Pansy M. (Ross) Smith. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Raleigh County Vocational School of Masonry, attended Beckley College, and served in the U.S. Military (Army) from July 1983 to May 1987. His profession of trade was masonry. Keith was preceded in death by his father, Clarence R. Smith, Jr., two grandmothers, Addie B. Smith and Lee Ann Ross, and fiancée, Sandra Bibbs. Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Pansy Smith of Beckley, WV; one son, Brandon Keith Smith of Beckley, WV; four brothers, Clarence (Carolyn) Smith III of Woodbridge, VA, Kenneth Smith of Beckley, WV, Floyd (Tanya) Smith of Charlotte, NC, and Jerry (Dor-Cel) Edmonds III of Milwaukee, WI; one aunt, Beatrice Johnson of Roanoke, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at New Hope Baptist Church, 304 Worley Road in Beckley, WV. Officiating will be Rev. Nathaniel Carey, Bishop Gerald Dillard, Rev. Thomas Simpson, and Rev. Eugene Nabors. Visitation will be prior to services, beginning at 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens where Post 32 Honor Guard will conduct military rites.
