HILLTOP - Fern Margaretta Grogan Adams, 85, of Hilltop, formerly of Beckley, died July 24, 1998, in an Oak Hill hospital after a long illness. She was a graduate of Concord College, a former teacher at Mark Twain High School, Stotesbury, Woodrow Wilson High School, Beckley, and at Redland and South Dade high schools, Homestead, Fla. Surviving: husband, Henry Garland Adams; daughters, Susan Bouldin of Tucson, Ariz., Mary Purvines of St. Louis; brothers, Fred Grogan of Deltona, Fla., Perry Grogan of Zebulon, N.C.; sister, Virginia Logan of Coral Gables, Fla. Memorial service will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Beckley, with Bishop Earl F. Shrewsbery officiating. There will be no visitation. Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Prosperity, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Concord College Foundation, Athens.
