SUN CITY, Calif. Eula Webb Burgess, 78, formerly of Beckley, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, in a Sun City Hospital, following a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Lewis M. Webb and Daisy Wills Webb of Beckley. Mrs. Burgess attended Wilson Wilson High School for two years and graduated from Athens High School lin 1939. She received her AB degree from Concord College in 1942. She taught at Stoco High School and Beckley Junior High before moving to California in 1954 where she taught for 22 years. After retirement from the Los Angeles Unified School System in 1977, she was a realtor until her illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Burgess; a sister, Pearl Webb Reed; three brothers, Lloyd Webb, Willard Webb and Glenn Webb. Survivors include a son, Rodney; a brother, Lew Webb of Laguna Hills, Calif.; three sisters, Ruby Carter of Beckley, Ruth Deck of Sun City, Calif., and Judy Bowman of Long Beach, Calif. A private service will be held in the Chapel at Riverside National Cemetery where she will be buried beside her husband, a World War II veteran.
