Ralph Daniel Goss, Jr., of Crab Orchard, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, in a Beckley hospital. Born May 11, 1936 in Stanaford W.Va., he was the son of the late Ralph Daniel and Sarah Ruby Croy Goss. Mr. Goss was a retired teacher having taught school at Clear Fork and Woodrow Wilson High School. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George R. Goss. Those left to cherish his memory are three brothers; James David Goss and wife Patricia of Crab Orchard, Robert B. Goss and wife Terry of Venice, Fla., and Ronald Goss and wife June of Jonesborough Tenn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Goss, a 1954 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, received three degrees, Associate of Arts from Beckley College, Bachelor of Arts from Concord College, and Master of Arts from West Virginia University. He attended the Pikeview Christian Church where he served as Choir Director and Sunday school teacher. Previously, he served as Choir Director and Sunday School Teacher at the Oak Grove Christian Church for 35 years. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct., 2, 2009 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until time of service on Friday. A committal service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 in the Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery Nephews will serve as pallbearers, and the men of the Pikeview Christian Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
