Virgil A. Sarrett, 82, of Beckley died March 20, 1998, in a Beckley hospital after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County and a schoolteacher at Whitesville Junior High School and Stoco High School. He was principal of Stoco Junior High School and later of Beckley Junior High. He was assistant superintendent of the Raleigh County school system and was retired vice president and academic dean of Beckley College. He was a member of Beckley Presbyterian Church and Coal City Masonic Lodge, and was a 50-year member of Beni Kedem Shrine Temple, Charleston. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and member of Beckley Elks Lodge 1452. Surviving: wife, Kathryn White Sarrett. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Beckley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert W. Debnam officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Melton Mortuary, Beckley.
