Mary Pribich* (Slipkovich)

Mary Pribich Slipkovich, 83, of Westwood Drive, Beckley, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at the home of her son in Nashville, Tenn., following a short illness. Born April 1, 1919, in Silvis, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Sam and Dora Sadak Pribich. Mrs. Slipkovich was a graduate of Beckley College and Concord College with a degree in teaching. She taught in the Raleigh County School system for 25 years, retiring from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1982. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and active in both local and state politics. She was a faithful member of the St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church. Her husband, George S. Slipkovich, preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1977. Survivors include a son, Dan Slipkovich and his wife, Lisa, of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Daniel Slipkovich of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Sam and Jacob Slipkovich of Nashville; nieces, Dora Scarfino of Troy, Mich., and Paulette Hess of Springhill, Fla., and nephew, David Pribich and family of Dallas, Texas. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox CHurch with the Rev. Father Samuel Haddad officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at Melton Mortuary, wherre Trisagion Prayers will be said at 8 p.m. The famly requests memorials be made to the St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 211 South Heber Street, Beckley, WV 25801.
