I graduated from San Jose State in 1964 and went on to get my California General Secondary Teaching credential the following year. I began teaching high school in Richmond at Harry Ells High in 1966. I then taught at Newark High, Memorial High in Newark, a short stint in Pleasanton, and ended up teaching in Tracy my final 19 years. During the time I was teaching, I earned a Master’s degree in History/Psych. I also did studies on Native Americans, Women in American History and California. I spent the last 17 years of teaching working with at risk students, as well as those with severe emotional or mental disorders, and some straight out of the juvenile justice system. It was extremely rewarding. I retired in 2008 only because I felt it was time, but I never felt I burned out. I volunteer for schools now as a helper for my daughter. I continue to work with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges for accreditation of high schools. I also volunteer for several pet rescue organizations and have more cats than sense. I have had dogs as well. I am also a member of our Sister City Board, and volunteered to take a group of ten junior high school students to Japan in 2014 in a cultural exchange. I enjoy Hawaii and have been there 30+ times, but recently traveled to Alaska and found it amazing. I have been to Japan, Europe, Mexico Canada, and spent 52 days touring South America (Columbia, Brazil, Argentina,Chili, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Costa Rica, and Panama. I did go to Antarctica while in Argentina. I also traveled in Iceland and Greenland - only because I thought nobody did it. Was I wrong. Fascinating places. In 2011 I took the trip to the South Pacific. I plan on returning in the future. I drove across the USA in 1965 in a 1954 VW bug. It took 2 months and was great. I missed the 50th reunion because I was doing a cruise through the Panama Canal. I delight in my grand children and my kids. My son is a CPA and worked for years for HP, but recently began work with Cisco. My husband passed away years ago. I travel with a friend and have found cruising as well as land travel fantastic. I cannot believe the Class of 60 had a 50th reunion - we did not get that old. It is doubtful anyone will remember me, but I still have many memories of high school, particularly the girls sports program. Boy, how that has changed in 50 years. So to any who reads this, feel free to contact me, i would love to hear from you and catch up on 50 years And thanks to all who are responsible for this web site.
