RUTH'S OBITUARY

Sister Ruth Gertrude Morton was born in Abington, Pennsylvania on August 26, 1937 to the late Elder Poke Munford and Mother Suzie Munford. She was the ninth child out of fourteen siblings.  At the age Of fourteen, Sister Morton accepted the Lord as her personal savior at Linconia Holiness Church in Trevose, Pennsylvania under the teachings of the Late Elder Bessie Wheeler.

During her childhood years, Sis. Morton lived in between Trevose Pennsylvania and Griffin Georgia.  In 1958, she graduated from Bensalem High School.  She worked as a kitchen aide at the Woods School until her marriage in 1961.

Sister Morton accepted the marriage proposal from the late Elder Teddy Morton after he stated,

“I’m going to change your last name into my name”.  They were married on December 30, 1961. They lived in Yardley for forty years.

Sister Morton worked as a housekeeper, caretaker, and a kitchen aide at several facilities:  Neshaminy School District, Gloria Day in Newtown PA, The Royce Hotel (Hilton) in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Hill House in Bensalem, Pennsylvania and a home health aide from several agencies.

Sister Morton supported her husband, the Late Elder Teddy Morton and attended Calvary Pentecostal Church in Trenton, New Jersey for forty years under the founder and late Elder Booker T. Johnson, Sr.

Sis. Ruth Morton continued to attend Calvary Pentecostal Church under the present Elder Pearlie Smith for the next eighteen years until she was called home.

Sister Morton wore many hats while attending church services.  She was the devotional leader, Sunday School teacher, recording finance secretary, and a member on the Communion Committee.

Sister Morton was faithful and devoted to her God, her Family and the Church.  She enjoyed cleaning, Sewing, crossword puzzles and cooking.

Sister Morton leaves to cherish fond memories of her children: Corinne Jones (Bill) Nathalie VA, Veronica Morton Las Vegas NV, Crystal Morton Rincon GA, Brian Morton Nathalie VA, and Daphne Scott (Richard) Thorndale PA. Four grandchildren: Keith McIntyre, Stefon McIntyre, Natasha Scott and Vanessa Scott. Five four legged grand dogs: Diego, Star, Simba, Tinker Bell and Chase. 

Sis. Morton has one remaining Brother, Deacon John Munford and three sisters, Martha Boone, Louise Johnson and Sarah Patterson and a host of nephews and nieces and many friends. In addition to her parents, Sister Morton was preceded in death by her husband, six (6) brothers and three (3) sisters.
