In Memory

James J. Dwyer - Class Of 1951

James J. Dwyer

James J. Dwyer Sr. of Southampton, NJ passed away at home into God’s loving and eternal care on Monday, July 24, 2023. He was 90.

Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Burlington Township for 43 years before moving to Southampton 26 years ago. He was a graduate of Bensalem High School Class of 1951 and a proud Korean War veteran. He went onto work for RCA Corporation where he was involved in camera technology and space shuttle launches. An avid Philadelphia sports fan, Mr. Dwyer was a decades-long parishioner at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Burlington, NJ where he was very active in coaching the CYO basketball team. He later became a parishioner of Church of the Holy Eucharist in Tabernacle.

Jim was a highly personable man who enjoyed a beer (or two) at social and family gatherings such as the annual “Dock of The Bay” party in Manahawkin, NJ. He showed us all how to love unconditionally with faith and integrity. His devotion to his loving wife through her extended illness will forever impact our lives.

He was predeceased by his beloved spouse, Barbara, and a grandson, Patrick, and was a devoted father of four surviving children: James J. Dwyer (Leslie) of Chester Springs, Pa., Michael J. Dwyer (Jeanie) of Regensburg, Germany, Stephen J. Dwyer of Dallas, Tx. and Joan M. Dwyer of Mt. Laurel. He is also survived by a sister, Helen Simmons of Massachusetts, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was fortunate to be able to celebrate his 90th birthday with family and friends, an event he enjoyed immensely.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 10am – 11am Thursday August 3, 2023 at The Church of the Holy Eucharist in Tabernacle, NJ followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Cemetery at 2PM in Wrightstown, NJ.

Due to cemetery restrictions on accepting flowers, the family requests contributions in his name be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennison Funeral Home, Vincentown. To offer condolences to the family, please visit dennisonfh.com.
