Obituary

James Allen Pinto, 74, of Kalamazoo, entered eternity on Thursday, September 2, 2021.

James was born to Henry Thomas Pinto, Sr. and Myrtle Pinto on August 17, 1947. He graduated from Bensalem High School (Pennsylvania) in 1968 and served in the United States Army for three tours during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge in 1988. He earned an associate degree in graphic design from Temple Junior College in Temple, Texas. He served on the board of his condo association.

James is preceded in death by his parents Henry Thomas Pinto, Sr. and Myrtle Pinto and his siblings: Linda Pinto (died at birth), Tommy (Jane) Pinto, Jr., Russell (Barbara) Pinto, Bernice (Don) Montgomery, Lynda (David) Bevan, and Matthew (Gina) Pinto. James is survived by his wife of 23 years Trish McAfee-Pinto, her daughters, Joanna McAfee, Jennifer (Todd) Patrick and his grandchildren Tucker, Timmy and Lilly; his daughter Christina (called Tina) Pinto; and his siblings Jayne (Bill) Marucci, Michael (Marie) Pinto, Joan (Don) Pinto-Beishl and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Known to his Michigan family and friends as "Papa J", he was a joyful man who loved life and planned on living far beyond 2021. He loved the Lord Jesus, America, and his family and friends. James enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, antiquing, building projects and spending time with his family and his dog, Buddy. He often could be found working on a project he was building to help someone, or something he was making for his grandkids. He served the members of his condo community with gladness and was a welcomed sight wherever he went. James always said: "Every day is Christmas," and he lived like it was.
