Richard J. Wharfe - Class Of 1966

Richard J. Wharfe

Wharfe, Richard J.
October 9, 1948 - September 22, 2017
Rick Wharfe of Englewood, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, with his partner of 30 years, Lisa Boyle, and family friends, Hazel Klossner and Rev Bill Klossner by his side.
Born October 9, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pa, to Harry and Annetta Wharfe, Rick migrated to South Carolina, met Lisa and they ended up in Englewood in 1991 to enjoy fishing in the warm weather and be closer to his parents.
Rick was an avid "car guy" with an obsession for drag racing and Corvettes. After a long successful career as an Equipment and Marine mechanic, Rick retired to enjoy working on his own vehicles, visiting with all his car buddies and just cruising in his Corvette. He also loved fishing from his flats boat, "Pop's Too".
He was a kind soul with a wickedly dry wit who was loved and respected by everyone he met. He will be truly missed by his partner Lisa, his Ragdoll cat, Gizmo and all his friends.
Besides Lisa, he is survived by his brother, Ross Wharfe of Pigeon Forge, Tn, a niece and nephew, adopted family members, Jerald and Lynn McKinney, Kings Mountain, NC., and Rev. Bill and Hazel Klossner, Punta Gorda, FL. His parents predeceased him.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday, November 3, beginning at 4:30 pm with visitation followed by a Memorial Service at 6pm at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, 2 Buchans Landing, Englewood, FL 34223
Donations in memoriam may be sent to Lemon Bay Playhouse, 96 W. Dearborn Street, Englewood, FL 34223 for Children's Theater Summer Camp and High School Scholarships.
