James Russell Thomas

James Russell Thomas died Friday, May 5, 2017. He was 69. 

James was born in Philadelphia, the son of Carolyn (Crompton) Thomas and the late Harry Thomas. He was raised in Trevose and was a lifelong resident. 

James was a United States Navy veteran. He honorably served his country in Vietnam and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Commemorative Medal. 

James was a retired mechanic by trade. He was a devoted family man and especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and many friends. 

James was the beloved husband of Barbara (Townsend) Thomas; devoted father of Clinton, and Cassandra; and cherished grandfather of Olivia, Alex, Jordan, Evan, Jacob, and Ryan; loving brother of Harry and his wife, Nancy; and loving uncle and cousin. 

Relatives and friends will be received by the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 12, at the Hoffmann Funeral Home, 1770 Brown Avenue at Hulmeville Road, Bensalem. Interment will be held privately.

Carolyn L. Funke (Shindler) (1966)

So very, very sorry to hear this sad news. I remember Russell so well from our school days. All the girls had a crush on him (including me!). A really sweet guy gone way too soon. Extending heartfelt sympathies to his family.
