James A. Hiss

Age 81, died July 18, 2023 following an extended illness. Born in Cleveland he had lived in North Canton most of his life. He was a graduate of Berea High School, the University of Cincinnati where he earned an BSME degree and Akron University where he earned an MBA degree. He retired from the Timken Company in 2002 working as a mechanical engineer. In retirement he enjoyed driving school busses for Plain Local Schools. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in North Canton, the Canton Jaycees, the North Canton Jaycees, and the North Canton Republicans. He was also an active participant in Boy Scouts of America events. Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia (Dalton) Hiss of the home; son, Ronald Hiss of Cleveland; daughter, Michelle Wagler of North Canton; brother: Timothy (Virginia) Hiss of Bristol, TN.; sister: Susan (James) Budiscak of North Canton; grandchildren: Mackenzie Wagler and J.D. Wagler. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Dawn Marie Hiss who died in 1966. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. John Keehner as celebrant. Entombment will be Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM in the Wackerly Funeral Home.
