In Loving Memory

Jan Van Duzer

JAN VAN DUZER, 68. Beloved relative and close friend to many died April 27, 2010. He will always be remembered as active, energetic and supportive to all who knew and loved him. His proud service in the U.S. Marine Corps earned him a Pistol Sharpshooter Medal, among others and was a diver to disarm underwater mines. After the service one of his jobs led to a Reynolds Aluminum Research Expedition involving a Diving Bell carried along by the Atlantic Sea Currents from Florida to Newfoundland. His dedicated R.N. Nursing career was a span of 25 years with related multiple certificates and further education. Jan also continually enrolled in art and computer classes. He was an avid hiker and bicyclist, belonging to biking clubs, the Cleveland Hiking Club and a strong supporter of the Cleveland Metro Parks for many years. He was a member of the New Century Harley Davidson Club, Medina, Oh., where he loved the people  and most of all Jan "lived to ride". He recently joined the Ohio Morgan Owners Club as a result of restoring his father's Morgan, which Jan planned on completing and driving this summer. He also was involved in projects to restore and repair his motorcycles and cars and as a result he met wonderful people, some resulting in lasting friendships. He enjoyed travel, whether by car, motorcycle or boat. He was a gifted artist and enjoyed all of the arts, avidly. Gardening and making home improvements around his home gave him great enjoyment. But most of all he was a devoted and loving son, brother, uncle, companion , relative, friend and neighbor. Much loved son of Dolores R., and the late William A. Van Duzer; brother of Candace Harvey; uncle of Chellie Harvey; cherished companion of Gerry Rutana; nephew to Shirley Ridings, Marian Hary, Katherine Deanovic, and Richard Van Duzer; cousin to 18. Preceded by uncles and aunt, Clarence Van Duzer, Oliver Ridings, Bill Ridings, Bob Ridings, and Betty Wajzer. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held 11 A.M. Saturday June 19 in the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted. (Arrangements by DOSTAL FUNERAL SERVICES, www.dostalfuneralservices.com
