Wayne W. Walter Sr., 77 of Kingston died peacefully on Thursday, March 4, 2021.
He was born June 17, 1943 in Berea Ohio. He was the son of William and Marie Walter.
Wayne married Nancy on August 10, 1963. They were married for 57 years.
He worked for Kelly Springfield Tire Company for 37 years before retiring in 2001.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was also a volunteer fireman, was an honorary member of the Lakota Tribe and served as Cub Master for the local Cub Scouts. He volunteered for several years at his local church. He was very generous with his time in helping others.
Wayne enjoyed woodworking and home improvement projects. One of his greatest enjoyments was taking camping trips with his family. He took an interest in reading books and watching movies about U.S. History. He was known to his family and friends as a great story teller. He loved to share his past experiences. These stories will be sure to be passed on to future generations.
Wayne is survived by his wife Nancy. His children, Wayne Jr. (Amelia), Donna Plane, Jeff, Craig (Lauren), and Wendy (John) Eul. His grandchildren, Alex, Steven, Jason, Anna, Allison, Morgan, Sarah, Blake, Kirana, John, Wayne, Cole, Gabby, Zac, Arianna, and Isabella. His two brothers, Warren (Kim), William (Lori) and his two sisters, Susanne Walter, Janice (Joseph) Vasel.
He was preceded in death by his two children, Eric and Matthew, his son-in-law Brian Plane, his parents, his brother Gary and his grandparents.
His visitation will be on Monday from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home of Genoa.
His funeral mass will be on Tuesday, March 9th at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Genoa Catholic Church, 340 S. Stott St. in Genoa, IL. Burial will follow at the St. Catherine Cemetery.
