Jerry Machovina

Gerald “Jerry” Francis Machovina, 71, of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.

Jerry was born June 25, 1947 to William and Elaine (Luce) Machovina in Berea, Ohio. He graduated from Berea High School in 1965 and from Bowling Green State University in 1969, where he was a 4-year starter for the Falcons football team and a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Jerry was employed as an Executive Vice President of Cable Ad Sales for Tele-Cable, TCI & AT&T where he was considered a visionary leader in the burgeoning cable industry. In 1999 he married Kimberly (Jordesen) Halma, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After launching a successful cable network and leading an internet cable business in New York City, he retired with Kim to his home in Florida due to his illness. During retirement Jerry became an avid craftsman and skilled woodworker. When he wasn’t watching golf or his favorite Ohio sports teams, he spent most of his time in his workshop creating works of art and function for himself, his wife, and his extended family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his wife Kim of 19 years, his three daughters, Allyson and her husband Brandon Hogue of St. Augustine, FL, Jodi and her husband James Lawrence of Virginia Beach, VA, Lindsey and her husband Adam Cates of Virginia Beach, VA, his step-son Matthew Halma of Corona, CA, his thirteen grandchildren: Madison, Parker, Corbin and Savannah Hogue, Garrett, Gideon, Annabelle, Charlotte and Ruth Lawrence, Judah, Aidah, Levi and Ezra Cates, his two brothers, Gary Machovina of O’Fallon, MO, and William Machovina of Nashville,TN, the mother of his children, Karen Machovina of Norfolk, VA, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

A special thank you to the Empath Hospice team in Indian Rocks Beach for their loving care and support. Family and friends will be holding a private memorial service at a future date.
