I will always remember Penny Jo as the new girl in class that brought so much style and trend setting ideas where ever she went.  She was a looker!  She will be missed!  Deb (Gray) Wagner

Penny was the Anne Bancroft of my young life.  She was sooooooo sophisticated, somehow more worldly, after all, she moved to Berea from CLEVELAND!  Somehow we made a special connection.  There were two people on the planet that made me laugh so hard that I couldn't catch my breath and tears would stream down my face. Those two were Penny Harris and Sandy Halloran.  Believe what you like, but Penny came to me when she passed and said "Goodbye".  Years later I was at a seance, and Penny came through another participant, someone I had never met before, and talked to me through her.  I was flabbergasted, but so happy she found me!  Tears streamed down my face again, but not because I was laughing. She was a fabulous story teller and she left this world too soon.  But she is having a hell of a good time in the other one!!  Love you forever Penny.

Dearest Penny, my best bud, my sister. You are in my heart daily.   You are the only person in my lifetime I have loved.  Both ACOA we understood each other, would know each other’s thoughts, find humor in the absurd and laugh our butts off.  Even on your deathbed you showed me your cancer bumps all over your chest and we laughed they were larger than your breasts.  You were always ready for an adventure and made life fun, even in your death. When you asked me to raise your son after your death, it was the total consummate form of flattery. You would be proud of David today. He’s funny, intelligent, and creative just like you.   In case word hasn’t made it to you yet, your Mom was cremated and Clyde left her ashes on the airport counter in Tampa.  Cindy and I will be with you in a few years….then the Kapendy’s can sing together once again!.  You are one of a kind Penny. Talk to you tomorrow. Love Kathy

I have been thinking of Penny more often than usual since our fiftieth reunion is here and she won't be with all of us. What a wonderful person Penny was she was smart, funny, very beautiful and loved life! We kept in touch until her very young death. In HS we always were trying to find some mischief to get into! Since she was incredibly creative Penny, Kathy and I were quite successful finding ways to have great fun, find a bit of trouble and laugh forever! We remained friends until her untimely death. She had two beautiful sons who adored her and she was a wonderful mother to them. She loved animals and had incredibly beautiful Great Danes on their property. They lived on a lake in Minnisota and we visited  there several times. The lake she lived on was beautiful and water skiing was part of weekend we all spent together. I loved Penny dearly~what's not to love?

i was very fortunate to be able to visit with Penny shortly before she died.  Kathy Lechner and I flew up for one last visit. She was so very sick but she never lost her sense of humor even to the very end of her life. She showed us her tumors that ravaged her body and was able to joke that the tumors were larger than her breasts!!! She had a deep faith life and I think her deeply held beliefs carried her through. Penny was applying to law schools before her diagnosis which was terminal. She was such a huge personality in a very small package

I was blessed to have Penny a part of my life. She was truly a fantastic, wonderful, funny person! Any one who knew Penny loved her, she was just that wonderful!
