Alan, Jimmy Hegyi and I istoled lumber from all over the neighborhood to build one of the most spectacular tree house in a vacant lot behind Alan's house. Wish my kids would of had those experiences. Would love to see a simpler time when that was important

The swim team brought Alan and I together and we became great friends.
A Type 1 diabetic, Alan demonstrated that with care and monitoring one could lead a normal life. His attitude has helped me cope with developing the disease later in life. He was a great friend and though I lost touch with him after graduation his memory and example lives on.
