Raymond L. Gilbert

Raymond L. Gilbert, 31, Indianapolis, died Feb. 14, 2003. He was a computer networking engineer and previously worked for Lucent Consulting and the State Department of Information Technology. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1992 with a triple major in Physics, Mathematics, and Astronomy. He did postgraduate work in Physics at Indiana University. Ray was very active with the American Contract Bridge League and served on the Central Indiana Bridge Association board as well as being a successful tournament player with many sectional and regional titles. His father, Daniel, was a physiologist at the National Institute of Health and preceded him in death on October 14, 2000. Ray is survived by his mother, Claire Gilbert, a social work supervisor at Springfield Hospital Center in Maryland. "Ray was one of the great young minds of our time and everyone he touched will remember him forever."
