To Everyone who attended the Reunion.

Second. I want to Thank Everyone who attended the Reunion for your Recognition and Friendship. Lately friendship has been an issue but this get together really renewed my faith in friendship. Honestly I wasn't sure what was going to happen but it was better than anything I could have imagined. Everyone in their lives has memorable occasions from work, to family and other events, and I have had those but for me this will be one of the most memorable experiences in my life. It was so much fun that we could share so many things about our lives with each other. I really learned so may interesting things about everyone when we were talking. If you're ever in the Minneapolis are, are let me know. Thanks Again from the bottom of my heart for the Friendship and Great Time. I hope that we can do something in 5 years instead of 10 years to celebrate our lives and the ones who have passed.

The summer of 1968 due to college acceptance issues I was in summer school in Forest City Iowa at Waldorf Jr College, a Church College. I went there till Spring of 1970 when I had drop out. I went back to Bexley and found out the folks were moving to Toledo, dad was going to a new Church. I stayed in Bexley and went to work for Connells Flowers the fall of 1970 as driver for a couple of years. The fall of 1970 had an event that explained a number issues that I had gone through up to that time. I was drafted and failed the physical, coming to find out I had a very serious hearing disability and was given a 4-F deferment. In 1973 I finally settled in Minnesota since I had a number of friends from college up here. It was during my first winter here that the next major life changing event happened. I was at a ENT doctor and when he found out I was military 4-F he immediately ran a hearing test. The results, which neither Ohio State Audiology or Walter Reed Medical told me, was that I needed Bi-Lateral Hearing aids immediately, due to a bad high frequency loss. Based on the tests we determined this went back to elementary school years and affected all my schooling up to 1970. Hearing things I never heard before with the aids was scary but I worked on using them to help to do many things, which included continued Choral Music, doing music instruments and then becoming a sound tech for 30 years. In work I specialized in Warehouse Management and Truck Driving up to 1990. Unfortunately many of those were lost due to mergers and bankruptcies. In 1978 I met my wife through my church singles group and we married in 1980. In 1990 the company I worked for 3 years driving semis over the road for KMart in 7 upper Midwest states lost the contract and I had to change careers due to the Hearing Disability. I was trying to finish my degree but had to work with 2 young children and starting working in Banking as the warehouse manager. Then in 1991 was the start of 3 Bank Mergers which I survived and has allowed me to work for USBank for 28 years. I worked heavily in Server Hardware support and moved from that 7 years ago to be Network Systems Specialist working on Client issues. While i have the 28 years in, in 28 months I will retire at 70. I look forward to spending time with the wife, our 2 grandsons as they are getting older and my remaining siblings. We've had to go through the loss of my brother Paul last June, very suddenly due to a medical issue. He attend Bexley too, 1 year behind me. I have one major agenda that I really push on that is that Hearing Tests need to be done at least 5 times in a child's life. My girls didn't inherit it from me, like i did from my father. Those 5 Tests are at birth, and the start of all school levels. It is thought that Visual Issues are more prevalent that Hearing issue since if you can't read there's a problem. Actually Hearing issues are as prevalent since those with an issue don't realize what they aren't hearing. As adults many of you possibly have had to get help. I wish there was a way to get better assistance for getting aids since Insurance doesn't cover them. The cost is crazy, for decent ones can be 3 grand each or if you want all the bells and whistles as much as 8 grand each. .
