Lucy (Aka Lucille) Shearer (Stokes) VIEW PROFILE

The life and legacy of Lucy Shearer Stokes began on July 2, 1928 in Wenonah Mining Camp #7, Birmingham, and ended at Princeton Medical Center, Birmingham, Sunday, April 17, 2016.  Her parents were the late Iphenia Lawson and Martin Shearer, Sr. 

She was predeceased by 11 siblings, Katie Carden, Iphenia Brand, Martin Sr., Sidney Sr., Levi, Levi II, Hannah Mobley, Mary Weeden, Isa Sr., Joseph Sr., and Roma McConico.  

She accepted Christ at an early age at the Mt Hermon Missionary Baptist Church (Brownsville), and was a graduate of Powderly High School.   

Lucy was retired from Baptist Medical Center, Princeton.

She was preceded in death by a loving husband Mr. Willie Stokes, sons Kelvin, and Gregory, daughter Danessa and daughter-in-law Brenda.  She leaves to cherish her memory and life, Ronnie C. (Ethel), Willie (Alfreda), Michael, Daryle, and Alan (Patricia).

Her survivors include 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Shirley, and Mae Pearl; a host of nieces, nephews, friend, relatives and former co-workers.

A special thanks to nephew James Carden, Jr. and niece Deborah McConico Sanders for their unending support and care.

Family hour will be Saturday April 23, 2016, 11:00 am – 12 noon @ Ebenezer Baptist Church

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 3510 Todd Avenue SW, Birmingham AL, Reverend Elliott Evans, officiating.                                                             

Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham AL.
