Mass of Christian Burial is Noon Monday at his beloved St. Francis of Assisi, 2430 7th Avenue, Bessemer. The Very Rev. V.F. Huguley, Celebrant. Sammie was a native of Hope Hull, Alabama, resident of Bessemer and 1958 graduate of Wenonah High Golden Dragons. He was gregarious by nature which afforded him an illustrious career in insurance sales with Booker T. Washington and Mutual Savings. Sports official, coach, bowling legend and human rights activist were some of his roles. Sadly, he was predeceased by a son, David. Loving memories remain with his wife of 58 years, Mary Frances Holiness Bibb; son Sammie, III (Niambi); siblings, Gus (Angelean), Willie (Cynthia), Michael, Gina (Ivory) and Marion.
