CHARLES D HOWARD, Class of 1949, age 81, a native of Birmingham, AL, passed away May 23, 2012. A retired captain of the U.S. Air Force, went on to work 29 years at Hanscom Field Air Force Base Geophysics Laboratory for the Sounding Rocket Branch. A Tuskegee Airmen (Korea branch), Charles donated his time tirelessly to helping black youth further their education through establishing the E.R. Nunn Scholarship for Wenonah H.S. graduates. He is preceded in death by his wife Mardelphia O. Howard and survived by his son Kenneth D. Howard. Visitation will be held at Scott-McPherson Funeral Home, 4000 Lloyd Noland Parkway, Fairfield, AL 35064. Services will be 12:00 pm Wednesday, May 30 at First Baptist Church of Powderly with burial afterward at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, AL. >  Obituary
