I am very grateful for the members of this Alumni Association for puttting together this awesomem web site. Just confirmation that Wenonah graduates are in a class all by themselves.

I want to pay tribute to my sister Mildred Berniece McCain Foster  who passed away March 16th 1992 at the age of 49 from complications of Diabetes and Renal Failure.  After graduating from high school, Mildred moved to Chicago Illinois where she remained most of her adult life.  She was employed by International Harvester until  they closed the Chicago based plant and remained in operation only in Indiana. She was married to Joseph Foster and they had one son together Garnett who resides in Chicago.  Because of her failing health, Mildred relocated back to Birmingham to be closer to her mother . Throughout her life until her demise she maintained close ties with her Birmingham friends and friends that had moved to various places, Earline Cottrell, Bernadette and Beverly Jeter, Tina Draper and Beulah Gatson just to name a few. She departed this life At University Hospital on the afternoon of March 16th.

My memories of my sister are wonderful memories, She was not only my sister but she was also my friend and I miss her dearly. I especially think about her during the time when State and A&M play in the Classic in Birmingham, as she attended Alabama State for 2 years after graduation. i say today to my sister. RIP, we love you and we still miss you. Give Mama, Daddy, Ivory and my husband a big kiss for me until we meet again.

                                                                                                              Betty.
