In Memory

Doris Hudson (Jamerson) - Class Of 1965

Dorris Jean Hudson (Jamerson) was born on November 11, 1947 in Alabama to Dorris and Norman Hudson. She was raised by Mae Jimmie and Samuel R. Pettus. She graduated from Wenonah High School and later obtained her Associates Degree.

After moving to Indianapolis, she fell in love and married Arbie Jamerson. They had two wonderful children, Tonya and Angelia.

Dorris worked for Western Electric for over twenty years, and later retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections. She was a caretaker for her mother (Mae Jimmie), and delighted in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and beloved dog Moxie. Later, she moved into Lake Meadows where she continued to enjoy puzzles, bowling, gardening, scary movies and crocheting. Her neighbors would always see her with a smile as she strolled around the lake. She loved giving gifts to anyone needing an extra dose of love, whether it be her crafts or a bracelet off her arm. Dorris had a magnetic personality, making friends of every stranger she encountered. Her encouraging words and welcoming smile will be dearly missed.

Despite having breathing difficulties due to COPD, she continued to give to others. After having a short bout of COVID, she was recovering at Harbor Manor facility. Dorris Hudson departed this Earth on October 31st, 2023. She will be sorely missed.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daughters, Tonya and Angelia; son-in-law, Bruce Lee; 4 grandchildren- Amber, Jasmine, Kiersten and Bruce III; her beloved Shih-tzu Moxie; and a host of family and friends.
