1/8/2023 Nerissia (Bryant) Lee, fondly known as Ann,was born in Birmingham,Alabama to Peter and Nerissia Bryant on March 18,1948.She was very close to her family.She spent her childhood and early years in the community Riley near Grasselli Heights. After graduating from Wenonah High School in 1966 she made her way to New York for new opportunities as her sister had relocated to Westchester County, New York.After taking a few jobs she began her career at the United States Post Office in White Plains, New York.There she met the love of her life,Willie V. Lee. Willie discovered Ann’s talent for singing from a work colleague and invited her to try out for his band,The Mighty Zippers.Needless to say,she blew the band members away with her voice and she was hired on the spot.Ann was a powerhouse and a natural on stage engaging the audience.She performed with the band for 4 years.In that time,she and Willie were married December 27,1974. In their union Willie and Ann had two sons,Reginald”Reggie” Lee and Jeffery Lee.Ann loved her sons deeply and made every effort to attend football games and sporting events.She supported her sons and lived to provide her best.She was a second mother to her niece Michelle and nephew Bruce and helped raise her from birth.Ann worked at the post office until retirement after 30 years.In retirementAnn joined a gospel quartet.They performed in various cities along the East coast singing at churches.In 2011,Ann recorded a solo album.It was a gospel album called”l’m Thankful”.Over the past few years,Ann would sing at different churches and choirs.She settled at First Community Baptist Church where she served in the choir.She desired to sing for the Lord and share her thankfulness to Him.Ann made friends wherever she went,and her memory will live long with each of us. She was predeceased by her loving parents Peter and Nerissia Bryant;dear siblings Caroline Bryant Harrell(Henry),Mozilla Bryant Braxton(Carlos),Lucille Smith(James). With rich memories and strength in faith she is survived by:Her devoted and loving husband of 47 years,Willie V. Lee ;children Reginald “Reggie” Lee,Jeffery Lee,Donnie Lee,Gregory(NaTasha) Lee and Lashanda Bristol;grandchildren Shatirra Lee ,Kenneth Bristol,Nicole Lee,Gregory Lee Jr.,Kenyatta Dudley,Kendra Dudley,Sean Lee,Isaiah Lee,Mackenzie Lee and Nile Lee;great-grandchildren,Reginald “Reggie” Williams,Ray’jon Williams,Reign Williams,Layla Lewis and Kaylynn Lee;siblings Caroljean Bryant,Clara Nixon,Peter Nixon and Charles Nixon. Ann also leaves behind several other nieces, nephews and a host of family and forever friends. The family of Nerissia “Ann “ Lee would like to thank everyone for their kind expressions. Your cards,phone calls,visits,flowers,a friendly smile,a casual touch,these are the things that meant so much.To know you are with us in our time of sorrow,sharing our prayers,today and tomorrow.God gives us the comfort in the form of good friends .You have all helped greatly during our time of bereavement.May God continue to bless each of you and keep you in peace.
