In Memory

Natalie Rogers (Tankersley) - Class Of 1975

Funeral Service  Wednesday 1:00 pm  Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel

Natalie Denise Rogers Tankersley, age 64, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2021. She was born on December 4, 1956, to the late Wille H. and Rosa L. Rogers of Jefferson County in Birmingham, Alabama. Natalie was the fourth of four children. She was a beautiful baby who grew into a pretty young lady that all adored.

Natalie was educated in the Birmingham School System, graduating from Wenonah High School in May 1975. Two years later, she made her dedication to Jehovah. Natalie loved to cook, was a talented seamstress, and could often be heard singing around the house. She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and lover of Jehovah.

Natalie was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children, Herman Andre Tankersley, Jr., and Stefanie Denise Tankersley, and embraced every moment with them. Natalie especially loved her role as Nana to her only grandchild, Cameron Mekhi Griffin. She had a vivacious personality, a beautiful smile, and always made people around her laugh.

Natalie loved her family and instilled in her children her strong values that have served them well. Along with her two faithful children and grandson, there are others who will miss her. Her sister, Brenda R. Holmes (Tim) of Bessemer, Alabama; brother, Wille H. Rogers (Sharon) of Jacksonville, Alabama; nephews, Steven C. Holmes, Sr. ( Patricia), Phillip Williams, and Steven C. Holmes, Jr., all of Birmingham, Alabama, Brandon Turner, Anniston, Alabama; nieces, Wanica D. Warren (Stephen) of Trussville, Alabama, and Iesha D. Holmes of Birmingham, Alabama; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, friends, and spiritual family members. Natalie’s second eldest sister, Charlotte Rogers Turner, preceded her in death in 2016.  She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

In February, 2015, I lost my younger sister, Charlotte, to CHF, and I was sure that nothing else could hurt that bad. Well, I was wrong. On March 8, one week ago today, I lost my baby sister, Natalie, Class of '75, to cancer. And yes, this one was worse. I pray that I have nothing worse than this experience.
