In Memory

Courtney Calhoun

Courtney Sherrod Calhoun was born on September 16th, 1972, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Willie Cleve Calhoun and Jeanie Mae Calhoun.
At an early age, Courtney confessed his love for the Lord and was baptized at New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dolomite, AL.
Courtney attended Pleasant Grove High School and graduated from Wenonah High School class of 1990. He received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from DeVry in 1994. This is where his love affair with "All Things Computer" began. Courtney was a highly intelligent computer whiz kid. His wife affectionately referred to him as her "computer geek." He loved his career and was an excellent computer diagnostician. Courtney was able to solve any computer issue he encountered and felt as if computers were more than a career but his calling. Courtney worked over 20 years as a technology enthusiast in various positions at such prominent companies as The Federal Reserve, Sterne Agee, Intermark, Ebsco Industries and Regions Bank. He was a member of various organizations and found joy in serving his community. Courtney served on the board of Cancer Awareness Network.
On July 22nd, 2006, Courtney and LaSharn were joined in holy matrimony during a surprise ceremony at their home. Most of the guest thought they were going to a birthday party when much to their surprise they were greeted with a wedding. Courtney had found the woman of his dreams and the smile on his face when he was with LaSharn could light up a room. Although no children were conceived in this union, Courtney nurtured and help to raise so many special children. He loved and cared for Austin as his own and was a major influence in the lives of his nephews, Corey, Chad and Jordan. Courtney was able to relate to the young men while dropping precious gems of knowledge the entire time.
In 2020, Courtney took on the role as Paw to Little Miss Paris Noelle Scott. She and her Paw Paw had a special bond that will never be replaced. Paris brought out Courtney's inner child. They laughed, played, and danced like two toddlers when they were together. Paris was the apple of his eye. She will deeply miss her Paw Paw.
Courtney had so many special friends and people who considered him "a brother."
Courtney was preceded in death by his brother, Corey Calhoun; father, Willie (Kandy) Cleve Calhoun; mother, Jeannie Mae Calhoun.  Corey Calhoun; father, Willie (Kandy) Cleve Calhoun; mother, Jeannie Mae Calhoun.
