I have so many special memories of Sylvia, I don't know where to start!  We attended all 12 years of school together & a year at UND!  Sylvia & I grew very close during her battle with cancer.  Sylvia attended a SEARCH for Christian Maturity retreat  while we were at SMCHS.  She asked Jesus to be her Lord & Saviour that weekend.  When she knew she was going to die, she wasn't afraid, because she knew she was going home to the Lord.  Sylvia & I planned her funeral.  She chose every Bible reading & every song.  She wanted it to be a celebration of her life.  It was my final gift to her, because it was the hardest thing I've ever done.  She maintained her sense of humor right to the end!  It's been almost 25 years & I still think of her every day & miss her.  She was a good friend.  I'll never forget the day John Leingang brought her red roses!  She was so touched by his generous heart.  That made her day John!!!  It hurt her that some of her closest friends had a hard time visiting her because they didn't deal well with her dying, but she understood it & was forgiving.  That was Sylvia, a good friend to the end.  I can't wait to see her again one day.  I asked God to have her & Charlie Ellingson save a seat for me!!!

Sylvia and I were good friends in grade school, but in high school we drifted.  My heart was burdened for her when I found out she was sick with cancer, but I am so happy to hear from Dawne that she trusted Jesus Christ as her Saviour and is in heaven...someday I will be joining her along with all others that have saving faith... Can you think of a more genuine sweetheart than Sylvia. It was so sad and even strange to lose someone so young. I spoke with her a just a few times when she was sick and near the end she was still so nice, so open and still interested in my plans for the future. She must have had a special relationship with the Lord to remain as calm and brave as she was even in facing death. I will never forget her.
