John William Deckard, 47, passed onward August 7, 2018.
John is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Jack Deckard and his brother, Matthew James Deckard. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Barcelona Deckard; mother, Brenda Crum Billingsley; brother, Tim Deckard; and sisters, Renee Linthicum, Tamera Pauli and Heidi Thiery.
He leaves his legacy with three sons, Silas Jackson Deckard (16), Ezra Phoenix Deckard (13) and Atticus Quinn Deckard (8).
John’s spirit will carry on through these boys. Silas is blessed with his steadfastness, Ezra with his empathy, and Atticus with his evocative expression. They all share his generosity, willingness to work hard and zest for life. Their lives will be lived to continue honoring and making him proud.
John was born in Bloomington, Indiana and returned to the Region to set down roots after his studies and outdoor adventures. Deeply dedicated to his family and well known for his love of the game, he traveled the country encouraging others to seek their full potential and mentoring many. His endeavors have touched countless lives, far reaching beyond the community he called home.
A story swapping salute will be held at the Bradford Woods Manor in Martinsville, Indiana on August 18th from 2:30-5:00 pm with a tribute ceremony at 4:30 pm.
