Daniel Lee Shickle

APRIL 15, 1944 – OCTOBER 26, 2021

On October 26, Daniel (Dan, Daniel) L. Shickle, 77, with his wife by his side, met his Lord and Savior face to face. He was born April 15, 1944 in Bloomington, Illinois, the only son of Elmo and Alice Shickle. He has two surviving sisters, Jennifer Breeden and Regina (Tom) Mundigler, three deceased sisters, Patricia Pickering, Sherry Shickle and Becky Shickle.

On August 19, 1967, Dan married Jane Schlafer and together they raised three sons. Steven (Laura), Alpharetta, GA; Andrew, Bloomington, IL, Peter (Jessica), Castaic, CA. He has 7 grandchildren: Danielle, Patrick, Annabelle, Norah Jane, Porter Daniel, Everett, and Silas and one deceased grandson, Haddon plus four nephew and six nieces.

Dan was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, uncle and friend to all. He was a CPA, CDP and worked at Illinois State University for the majority of his life, retiring in 008 as Fiscal Manager at Extended University. He was a man of many passions which included reaching out to others in need, bowling, photography, bird watching, writing stories, and watching the many activities that took place in his Normal Backyard (his webpage).

His biggest passion was studying Gods Word and sharing with others the saving Grace of his Savior, Jesus Christ and about the many miracles that God has done for him and his wife. In May of 2014 he received an LVad (Left Ventricular Device-heart pump) that allowed him 7 more years of life and he later started a support group for other local LVad recipients.

Cremation rites have been accorded with East Lawn Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 20, at Freedom Baptist Church, Bloomington, IL. Visitation before the service starting 10:00-12:00 and the service will be held at 12:00 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freedom Baptist Church building fund; Tri-Valley Baptist Church; Ministry and More, Bible Tracts Ministry.
