Obituary for James A. "Tony" Lannie

James A. "Tony" Lannie, 69, was called home to be with the Lord Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home - Oxford, MS.

Mr. Lannie was born in Kennett, MO, having grown up in Bloomington, IL as a child and young adult before residing in Olive Branch, MS the remainder of his adult life. He was a senior manager in aircraft line maintenance. Mr. Lannie served his country faithfully as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Mr. Lannie was an avid fisherman and loved to be outdoors surrounded by nature. He was also a proud member of the Memphis Bass Club. He loved motorcycle racing as well as riding, but nothing could compare to the love he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren. It did not matter the occasion, any time spent with his family was time that he cherished and never took for granted.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at LaBelle Haven Baptist Church, 4800 Highway 305 N, Olive Branch, MS with the memorial service following at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel at LaBelle Haven Baptist Church. A reception is to follow immediately after the memorial service and will be held at the Oaks at Parkview Clubhouse, 8895 Parkview Oak Circle, Olive Branch, MS 38654. Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Y. Lannie of Olive Branch, MS; one son, Douglas A. Lannie of Olive Branch, MS; two daughters, Angela (Eric) Y. Miller of Olive Branch, MS; Melissa J. Lannie of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; two brothers, Michael Lannie of Bloomington, IL; Andrew Lannie of Bloomington, IL; four sisters, Mary (Alan) Mauer of Bloomington, IL; Tina (Ray) White of Normal, IL; Rose (John) Fry of Bloomington, IL; Cathy Lannie of Bloomington, IL; one grandson, Austin Lannie of Walls, MS; two granddaughters, Cora Miller of Olive Branch, MS; Kristen Miller of Olive Branch, MS.

His parents, Anthony B. and Mildred F. Lannie, preceded Mr. Lannie in death.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Lannie's name to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
