Cliff Amundson sent me an e-mail, informing me of the passing of Jim Tompkins, due to Covid19. Jim was a friend and we had maintained contact through all these years. I remember sailing with him on Lake Nokomis and spending time working on his Grandparents farm in Mora, Minnesota over a Summer. We played golf when he ventured back to Minnesota a number of times. I always looked forward to his humorous e-maills and though we were on opposite ends of the political spectrum it was never a point of contention. I will miss him............RIP

Yes, it is true and indeed sad - Jim Tompkins did pass away on 11/20 from Covid.  (When we receive info on services, we'll post it here)  We've lost yet another classmate.  Jim was always helpful with the reunion planning and we thoroughly enjoyed the cartoons he would forward for giggles - just when we needed them.  He will indeed be missed.  Blessings and comfort in memories of the good times to Diana and family.

Really sorry to hear of Jim Tompkin's passing, he always keep us informed and sent greetings out to all of us. Really beginning to hate this whole covid thing. We have lost so many friends, classmates and relatives.

It is with great sadness for the loss of Jim.  He recently posted a picture of our first grade class with himself, me and Bob Grant in the back row!  We spent 12 years in school and he will be missed.  I will also miss the hundred emails I received regarding jokes and other stuff.  In addition, Jim almost always sent me a note on my birthday.  Always enjoyed his company st the reunions.  Unfortunately, neither one of us was able to attend the last reunion this last September.  God bless you Jim and your family.

Truly sad and to hear Jim Tompkins has passed, and the he had to struggle with COVID. Many classmates are especially liked/loved by the people they hung out with, but Jim was liked/loved by all. Sure will be missed.

Per phone call from Marce Osgard Halfmann, Connie Campbell Shiffert and Barb Hoaglund Faber are currently in the hospital dealing with serious medical issues.  Connie's daughter Sara asks for your prayers for Connie and Marce asks for your prayers for Barb.  I have no other information at this time unfortunately.  I will update if I hear anything further but wanted to get this notice out.  Prayer is powerful!  Thank you in advance for adding Connie and Barb to yours!

All the very best,

Pat Toepfer Christianson

SPat thank you for this information. Yes, these girls and their families are in our prayers.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I/We pray for these 3 lovely girls who you have looked after since birth. YOU know them well and you love them so deeply. Please take away their suffering and heal them as they finish their journey with you. Each of them bring such joy and refreshment to us all and especially their precious families. In the midst of all the turbulence on earth YOU are our refuge and hiding place. We praise YOU and thank YOU for YOUR promises and absolute overwhelming power, kindness, love and your glory.  Amen

It is with a heavy heart, once again, that I announce we've lost another beloved classmate.  Connie Campbell Shiffert passed away the day after Christmas at 11:00 PM.  Connie was a beautiful soul, a very kind lady and a devout Christian who joins her sweet sister Bonnie in heaven.  Your prayers for Connie's daughter Sara, the family and for Connie are appreciated.  As always, you may post comments here for family and other classmates to read.  More info will be forthcoming.

RIP Connie.

Hello Classmates,

I have an update on Barb Hoaglund Faber.  She's in Florida right now fighting cancer and the current goal is to build up her strength so she can go up north to their cabin again once the weather gets warmer.  Although Barb may ultimately lose this battle, Kay and Marce are requesting "happy" notes (no "get well soon" or anything heavy), from her friends at their earliest convenience.  Thank you in advance for your prayers and warm wishes to Barbie.

Cards and letters can be sent to:

All the best,

Just an fyi, since it has been a long while.

My husband Jack passed January 31, 2019 of natural causes (He was nearly 82); I sold our home and moved into Charter House with assistance from my sister-in-law and her family.  I still live there.  Charter House is a Mayo owned retirement community in downtown Rochester, and many of my former clients live there as well. My brother Mike (grad of Bloomington 1965) celebrated his 56th wedding anniversary yesterday - he lives outside of Austin Texas in a retirement community.  My brother Dave (first graduating class of Kennedy High School) died 12 years ago.

I finally retired last year, after 49 years at Mayo Clinic (I had just turned 76).  My replacement reference librarian at Mayo is doing well I am told by friends, but focuses more on business than on medicine as I did.

I enjoy the bits and pieces of your lives; keep them coming.

I check my email every day to see who has responded to our question about the BHS class of 1963 60th reunion asking if you plan to attend and if so, how many? Many of you who have responded send back nice little messages and comments.  Here is one that came a few days ago from Ann Fezler Beck.

Hi Classmates! Say Hi to everyone for me! Unfortunately, I'm not up to flying around the world by myself and I don't have anyone nearby who has the time and money to accompany me! But I DO remember that high school in Bloomington was work AND FUN for me. And with three years of German at BHS (thanks to Mr. Boehme!) I was well prepared to major in English and have a minor in German at Hamline in St. Paul and that opened doors for me! So even though Nils (with dual citizenship) is now working for Apple and living with his lovely wife in California, I'm at home in the house Klaus and I bought before Nils was born in a town near what was the capitol back then (Bonn). Hope you are healthy and have a good time! Ann (Fezler) Beck

I have just added an video I took in April 1963 of our BHS class play video 'SOUTH PACIFIC'  YouTube link to my 'classmate profile'.  https://youtu.be/f3EnHXU1Kms    I took this 3 minute 42 second 8mm color movie and I look forward to everyone's comments.  I really enjoyed working on this play doing lighting and sound effects.  Does anyone still have a copy of the play 'program?'  If so, I would love to see a scan of the program.  Thank you very much.  Dave Tomeraasen, San Diego, California.

Today I received a very nice letter from Lynne Gryza informing me that her husband Ray Gryza passed away July 17, 2021.  Lynne indicated that they were married November 26, 1966, that he was a wonderful husband and he retired at age 49.  Ray and Lynne had 3 children and 8 grandchildren.  Webmaster, please update our 'In Memory' section of this web site to indicate Ray Gryza passing in 2021.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  Thank you.  Dave Tomeraasen

Our classmate, Victoria (Vickie McDermott) Merrick, had a very bad fall on Saturday.  She broke her shoulder, arm and pelvis and was hospitalized for surgery.  We don’t know the full extent of her injuries or have a post-surgery update as yet, but we will share any additional information we receive.

If you’d like to send Victoria a card, here is the address:
