After 33 years of teaching at Sturgis High School, I retired in June 2008. I did teach German half-time this year, but now I am enjoying full-time retirement.
I still have a passion for language and travel and have planned a trip to Paris and London for September. In addition, I still play the flute in the Kalamazoo Concert Band and the Sturgis Wind Symphony.
Despite the doom and gloom in economic reports, I very much enjoy life in Michigan with its beautiful countryside, many small lakes, and the Lake Michigan coastline. We are also in the middle of Amish country and have a rapidly growing Hispanic population, which both add a little diversity to life in the Bible belt.
My son Jeff has recently become engaged and has landed a teaching job north of Chicago for the fall. My daughter Lisa is working on a master's degree in international affairs at George Washington University in DC, a wonderful place for me to go visit.
I am very much looking forward to the reunion and to seeing people again for the first time in many years. I will be happy to hear from anyone who is inclined to get in touch. |
