It never occurred to me that I would have an opportunity to publicly express my sadness, even to this day, at the loss of my dear and beloved friend, Beverly. From elementary, through junior high on through H.S., we remained closest friends. We lived a few blocks from one another and were seated close to each other in home room. We will forever be enshrined in the Crier, again, so close to each other in the senior section.
I did business with Bev's Dad and maintained tabs on the family throughout. When I learned of Bev's sudden death in a traffic accident in Texas not very long after she had married, I was absolutely lost. I feel today as I did then about my gentle, beautiful and sensitive friend. Take a look at her picture. Draw that smile in and those beautiful eyes. And, consider yourself fortunate for the years you, too, spent with Bev. I have missed her at every reunion since our 10th. (and, yes, I am pictured just behind her at the l0th!) In July, let us toast her memory, along with those of our other fallen fellow/sister students. --Jerry Haber
What a sweet girl. I had the opportunity to really get to know Bev after school and shortly before she was in such a terrible car accident. We had a great Christian singles group going and had alot of fun and fellowship. She loved the Lord and was so very excited to meet a guy and get married. Her life was complete until the accident. She had a great smile and I will always miss her. Larry Johnson
Bev was one of my best friends in High School. She completed our little foursome. Her death was so sudden and so tragic. I will always remember her gentle, quiet spirit and many nights after games spent at Pizza Hut, sleepovers at Sue Anderson's house, and her deep faith in Christ.
Bev and I were "boyfriend<>girlfriend" back in junior high school...we danced at school dances, held hands to the Beatle's song "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and even kissed a few times (how advanced!)...Bev was a sweetie, kind, loving and a gentle spirit...we enjoyed each other's company...
I remember in my "flirting days" with her that Scott Ruther, Jim Rowan and I decided to toilet paper her home on South Cadillac (behind Welker's home!)...we were doing a "great job" when all-of-a-sudden I heard screaming and saw people sprinting in the dark...it was Jim and Scott with Mr. Hackett in hot pursuit - with camera(!) - trying to take a running snap shot! I saw "flashes" but, he camera failed (naturally!), and Mr. Hackett threw it at Jim/Scott and I...I slipped off behind the bushes, then...down the road...aaaaaahhhhhh, the memories of life!
Bev was in a fatal car wreck coming home from church on a Sunday morning (drunk Texan female driver struck Bev and her husband broadside - they were in the back seat of their car), I was in chiropractic school in San Francisco...my mother cut out the article from The Vindicator and mailed it to me...when I opened the unexpected envelope and read it, a few tears easily ran down my face...aaaaaaahhhhhhh Bev Hackett - she will always be remembered fondly!
