Cathy Tepsick's words above...oh myeeee - such passion, such memories, such characters and feelings - ALL lovely, memorable people - EVEN from/by those of us at West Blvd. Elementary! (RIGHT Chuck ohl!?!) ((-: :-)p
Tim was COOL - he had a way about him that would have him (of course!) WITH the inimitable Craig Lewis, Cathy Tepsick, Laurie Hawkins and Paulette Longaker...need I say more!?! ((-:
Tim in the band "The Group" was coooool as well - it was the way he was, plus...a great smile, good looks an...a sense of humor!
Timothy John Paolone, M.D. of Mt. Pleasant, SC husband of the late Jan Massey Paolone died Friday, March 17, 2006. He is survived by his father and mother, his brother Terry Paolone of Charleston, SC his two sons Michael and Collin Paolone both of Mt Pleasant, SC.
Timmy and I got to be close friends during our senior year and then through college. Many, many nights we would go to a party or whatever and then sit in his driveway and talk until four or five in the morning. I always used to say that Timmy was the best person in the world to bs with; he loved to laugh and he always had an interesting take on the topic at hand, whether it was politics, sports, relationships, or whatever. It also didn't matter if you'd talked for five minutes or five hours - when you were done you felt that it was just right, you hadn't gone on too long, yet nothing had been left unsaid.
I didn't know Tim as well as many of you, but I have very fond memories of going to concerts in Cleveland with him and Jim Borts and Mike Orgel. He was just a very good guy, always positive, always smiling. And I do have an indelible memory of seeing him and the rest of "The Group" on the Upbeat show on Channel 5 out of Cleveland. I was very saddened when I saw his obituary in The Vindicator.
Tim was a light in so many lives. I am sad to hear that he
has passed. Wouldn't it be facinating to meet his sons!
Hope that all of you attending the reunion will "toast
his memory" and share some of the joy that he brought to so many of us.
I would spend hours with him when he worked at Boulevard Pizza. We would discuss Ayan Rand and any other subject that would come along. I loved his sense of humor and his brilliant mind. I was shocked when I heard he had passed away. I think he only came to one reunion and I had a chance to meet his wife. Seems like a lot of sadness, but H am sure he has great kids. I tried finding him over the years, but to no avail. He was really one of the good guys
Tim and I were together while he attended medical school at Case Western. Tim was always so much fun. He had such an imagination and loved culture. We could walk the campus for hours and talk about the architecture or nothing in particular. We read Russian literature together, spent many waking hours at the Cleveland Museum of Art, took in all the movies on campus and went to all the concerts...Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Roberta Flack....anyone that was appearing. We loved music. He was very theatrical and had a beautiful voice. One afternoon he sang the entire musical Camelot for me. We went to London, England together for six weeks in 1971. I wanted to hit all the stores, of course, but Tim insisted we save our money (what little we had) for anything cultural. There were tickets to plays...William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream "Hair" and O Calcutta, movies...A Clockwork Orange, Shaft, Klute, Taking Off, concerts...The Byrds, America, bus tickets to Kensington Market, hitting the pubs and gathering in Piccadilly Circus for New Year's Eve. Thank you, Tim, for some of the best memories of my life.
Tim (or Tim Palermo as we called him) was one of life's "Good Guys". And Cathy, I will always think of you and Tim as an item...no offense Jan, but Cathy had him first.
We spent a great deal of time together, on the football field, just hanging out, and especially performing, and sometimes practicing, in our very unorganized rock band "The Group".
Tim was even tempered, always in a good mood and never seemed to get rattled. Except one time that I remember, Tim, Jack Hay and I were walking up Afton ave and I teased Tim about the slight lisp that he had when he sang the opening line to the Moody Blues song "Go Now". He turned, smacked me in the chest and knocked me into the drainage ditch. Jack and I were so stunned to see Tim get angry that nobody said a word. After a brief pause I replied "Are you serious...ok... I'm shorry I shaid it". We all burst out laughing and continued on our merry way.
I still have a picture of Tim, Jack Hay, Jack Welker, George Haidos and myself, dressed up as gangsters, hanging on my wall. I'll try to post it.
