Cheryl and I were friends since we were 13 yrs old. I was the new kid in Onteora, not very happy to be there and she became my friend and made things better. We were friends until she died. We both worked at Met Life after school. They were not kind to her at the end and I have no use for Met Life and will not have their insurance.

She died on Sept. 23, 1999 of a rare form of cancer, cancer of the Thymus. I don't think they even knew how to treat her. She was diagnosed in May and was dead in Sept. A terrible painful death that nobody should suffer. I miss her every day.

Her birthday was the other day. She should have lived to be 54 and she should have had a chance to move to Vermont [We always said when she got out of Met Life and my husband retired we'd move to VT together] and have her Golden Retriever. Life is so lousy sometimes.

She was a wonderful person who will always be missed. She left her parents [Her father died 10 days after she did] 2 brothers, a sister in law and nephew and many friends.

It was sad news that Cheryl died.  She was my best friend for many years and I spent countless nights at her house, playing Barbies, playing pool in the basement, singing Beatles songs and being in love with Peter Noone from Herman's Hermits.  I had a crush on one of her brothers and they were so accepting of me.  Her parents were awesome too.

As we went through high school we drifted apart and our interests changed.  I remember that she didn't get her drivers license until she was is her 20's.  She just didn't want to drive I guess.  She was a kind and gentle soul and I will always remember her.  She made me feel important at a time when we were all just seaching for who we really were.  She knew who she was and had values to back it up.  Going through cancer must have been terrible and I hate that someone as genteel as her had to endure it.  God is looking after her now.            Jackie
