02/15/09 08:10 PM #111     Mary Cowan I have not read all the messages but saw briefly about did we have a Sara Schaeffer in our class. The answer is yes. She hung out with me and Kris Mohar. She was very quiet. I can't remember what grade we were in when she started going to school with us but I believe it was in High School. If I get a chance I will read more of the posts. 02/15/09 11:53 PM #112     Clare Graham (Hardesty) If she was truly a classmate, for one, there wouldn't have been such a large amount of background noise in the conversation like telemarketer noise, second, she should have been able to name off a list of people I knew but all she had to say everytime I confronted her was "aaaaahhhhh, uuuuuhhhhh", thirdly, she wouldn't have tried to schedule an appt with me on thursday regarding her new job and whatever it was she was doing, and lastly, I was pretty rude with her, if she were truly a classmate of mine, why would she have hung up on me in the middle of conversation. I'm telling you, something is up. Whomever this person is is not the person they are claiming to be. So, just be careful. I too thought this site was safe. And my information is not listed in phone books as I pay extra for that. My facebook page doesn't list my address or phone number. So the ONLY place they could have lifted it from was this site. I thought posting my experience on the forum would get out to you all so no one would fall sucker to a cons scheme.

02/16/09 03:35 AM #114     Troy Corbett I have noticed alot of people in our class getting contacted or emails from this Sarah Schaeffer person. Personally She left me a message on the sight and said she rembered me from my blond hair. One, I do not nor have I ever had blond hair and if the person even looked at my profile pictures she or he would of knowen that. I also went back through all the yearbooks from our sophmore to senior years and did not find this Sarah person. Obviously she or he is a con artist that is busy phishing members in our class web sight. If possible, who ever is the web sights administrator should delete this persons profile off the sight and post an alert as well as an alert emailing to everyone who has there profile on the web sight. I am sure there are alot of people who have posted there profile but does'nt read the forum or go to the sight that often. I am not going to change or take down my profile but if this person emails me again or calls me like they did Clare I'll just tell them to go get F@$#ed! As should anyone else this person contacts.

02/16/09 05:06 PM #115     Mary Cowan Me again -- I can totally understand everyone's feelings by being contacted by this person. I work in Law Enforcement myself and don't tend to put out my personal info for that reason. I have had no problem doing it here as I felt it was a secure place to do that. On that note - I have not been contacted by Sarah Schaefer. As I posted yesterday we did have a person by that name in our class. I was friends with her but I will say she was an odd duck even then. If this person who is calling and claiming to be her actually is then I feel sorry for her. It is sad if one of our own has issues and are not in touch with reality. The posting on this site from her is truly out there. I do not plan to change what I am posting, but I definitely will be on the alert for anything that seems suspicious. I appreciate those that have brought this matter to our attention.

Yes, somehow we need to get the word spreading to other classmates. I'll have to direct Jen Cosgrove to our forum and read what's been going on as I'm sure she's unaware and is the administrator of the site as she was the one that set it up. I'm really hoping with me posting this if this person has hacked into our sight that she'll realize the gig's up and she'll move on.

02/16/09 10:06 PM #117     Jennifer Cosgrove (Paine) SECURITY UPDATE: I am going to contact the web builders ASAP. Clare just pointed out all of what has been going on. I am also deleting this Sarah Shaefer from our class roster. If the real Sarah would like to register for the site, there is a way to submit a request to the web admin (me) and I can either approve or deny the request. I'm not sure how this happened but I am going to take steps to hopefully ensure that it doesn't happen again. I'm sorry for those of you who have been troubled by this person. It really irritates me that people take advantage of these things. Grrrrr! If you have any more trouble, please let me know ASAP!!! Thanks. Jen

I will be sure to be watching for the piece of trash.... I too have found facebook and its kind of addicting... lol.. 02/24/09 12:22 AM #119     Kristine Mohar Yes, there was a Sarah Schaeffer in our class and she was unique in her own way. I have also been contacted by this person, I have not responded. It's not shocking that there are people in this world who attempt to take advantage of others. What's more amazing is that they think we are stupid enough to fall for it. I would like to live in my own little world and think and hope that no one in our class would do that. From what I have seen a lot of people have "grown up" to be relatively normal (or at least I hope so again in my own little world). We know that is not necessarily a full reality. I have to agree with Clare; you need to do what you can to protect your own. Your family is first and foremost. Like others I have removed some of my personal information from this site thinking it was safe. Now my only thought is to protect the two growing young men and my other half in the other room. Although, they would disagree and think they are mom's protector. On a much more positive note! It's good to see everyone posting! I haven't been online much since I am getting over being ill but I will be posting more as we go! There are people here I need to get back in touch with! It's good to see you all! I wish you GREAT HEALTH & HAPPINESS! I would wish wealth but I think that would be getting a bit greedy...with health and happiness, wealth usually follows! :) OK in these economic times I will take what I can get!

It really freaked me out! I wish I would have logged onto this forum back then and realized what was going on. She acted like she knew me and knew where I lived... said she just started a new job and needed to make 10 appointments to get started? Very strange. She said she would call me back, but never did. It amazes me how easy it is to find out someone's personal information. She was even bold enough to pick and day and time to come over! I hope you are all well and enjoying life! Can't wait to see you all again!

03/10/09 12:26 AM #121     Jennifer Fortune (Rasar) I too was contacted by the same individual...not to worried about it, but it seemed odd...I did not remember her, but was able to find her in one of the yearbooks. I am not going to stress about it, it seemed odd for sure, but there has been no further contact. Perhaps she is wanting to connect prior to the reunion? She must have recieved my information from my profile as well because the first thing she asked me is if I was a realtor....I just edited my contact info just like clare did.

On a more true & positive note, that was pretty cool that President Obama was on Jay Leno. The first sitting president in history to do a late night talk show! Whether you voted for him or not, what a great way to connect to every-day Americans without all the stuffiness of a White House press conference.

Over the weekend I had the urge to listen to Bon Jovi and had to download some of their songs into my iTunes as I don't have any of their CDs. It was weird listening to that music - stuff I haven't heard in a VERY long time. Just a tad different from the Linkin Park I'd had in the CD player prior :)

The scary thing is I was able to sing the song without looking at the lyrics. I have not sung that song in 20 years. I guess some things do stick in your brain whether you want it to or not.

04/27/09 04:22 PM #128     Kristi Neil (Gladen) If anyone can help... I've recently been assigned the task of presenting a Facebook presentation to the faculty and staff at the college I work for. The boss is ignoring the fact that I don't use Facebook, nor do I intend to get an account (I know they are free)(and no, the boss isn't the sharpest crayon in the box) and that assignments like this take away from the people on my 18 page wait list of classes that are definitely NEEDED. Anyway, I've had enough trouble with spam and stalkers and tend to avoid social networking sites so researching this topic is going to be a bit of a challenge. So if you use Facebook (or MySpace) and wouldn't mind, what do you use it for? How often do you check it? Have you ever had problems with unwanted contacts? Any other opinions? Thanks guys.
