BHS Dear Class of 1964 Members, Hello. I am Joelle, one of Jerry’s two daughters. My sister found your page. Discovering your affection for our Dad and memories of him was like finding a stash of little treasures. Thank you for taking the time to share your recollections. It’s special to discover dimensions of someone you love from different times of life. I am happy to see the fun he had, the music he shared, the connections and friendships. He always stayed curious. Of course, music was integral to his whole life. He gave a ton of energy to The Boeing Company where he worked for 37 years. Dad was twice married. In the last decade of his life he traveled a bit, often to the ocean and once to Europe. Especially in the last five years of his life, Dad loved spending time with his brothers and sister. If he could have read your appreciations they would have meant a lot to him. Again, Thank you.

Sincerely, Joelle (Winninghoff) Brouner

I am so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing.  In High School he was a good friend to all, and at our 50th, he was still wearing that perpetual smile of his.  God bless Jerry's soul and God bless family and friends.

About a year before I transferred from Shorecrest High to BHS, I met Jerry through Jerry Ross. Jerry and Jerry were at Kenmore lanes, Ross and I were on a bowling team together, JW was hanging out with some other guys. I got to know JW a bit, and if my recall is right, he was already pretty good with his guitar. Anyway we remained friends through high school. Like many of us, after high school, we went our separate ways. Thank God I was able to see and chat with him at our reunions when we were both there. I do pray that Jerry is in a much better place now. God bless you Jerry, and I hope to see you on the other side when my time comes.

David

My heart is heavy and sad today. We lost another generous, loving classmate.   Jerry was my counterpart in our band from junior high through graduation and beyond.   "Clain" as he called me wiggled his way into my heart with his continuous banter about music. He loved all jounras as he researched songs for me to sing.  "Feelin Better" was one of our favorites and his pick. The "Banditos" became the "Squires" in high school as we enjoyed performing at after game dances and summer gigs at Cottage Lake.  Alan, Jerry, Vandernacker and I packing up the car and heading for one more drum solo was always fun.  Jerry's unrelenting spirit carried us on our trek to stardom ending in our last performance at our 20th reunion.

Jerry was a fantastic father and loved his girls beyond words.  He was a dedicated family man and cared lovingly for his handicapped daughter who prospered into a highly accedited professional.  We will miss your heartfelt determination.

Love you man... keep that band of angels singing.  XO

A sad day.  I kind of lost touch with Jerry after high school but we were pretty good buddies back in the day and shared many adventures during our band days.  I fondly remember Jerry's great love of music and sense of humor.  I remember whenever we were out driving around and ran across a classmate that happened to be driving a beater car (which most of us were back then), Jerry would shout out the window, "Anybody hurt in that wreck?".  RIP Jerry.

Really sorry to hear of Jerry's passing.  I got to know Jerry quite well as we lived kitty corner from each other in Kenmore.  My deepest condolences to Jerry's family.

It’s always difficult when we hear of another one of our classmates passing.  I didn’t know Jerry very well, but it sounds like he was very active and a good friend to many.  I found this article in the May 24, 1962 Northshore Citizen regarding Jerry playing with a guitar strumming group called The Banditoes, along with Al Dodson, Glen Smith and Steve Wickland. You can see their names in the right side column about 5 & 6 lines down from the words ASB Chest.

God Bless you, Jerry!

Though I didn't know Jerry very well I do remember that whether it was in a hallway or classroom, his terrific grin lit up the place.  I'm so sorry for all who love him and am wishing much peace and healing.  I've no doubt his music is resonating amidst the stars and he's waiting to see everyone again.  Blessings to all of you.  Keep rockin' the music, Jerry!

Joelle, I am glad you found us. Your dad was such a shining light. He and I were friends mostly in our senior year with a shared interest in music. He taught me guitar a bit and was always a joy to be with. Thank you for sharing your memories of your dad with us.
