Ron Church

Ron Church

From Ryan Church: his father, Ron Church, passed away on November 19, 2022. He is remembered for his sense of humor,  and the entertaining teaching style he used in the math classes he taught for years in the Northshore School District. There will be a private family service.

Ron was one of my best friends at Bothell, along with Dwight Funai, together greatly missed.  We all started our college adventures at the University of Washington and always enjoyed finding each other for an evening of cards, board games and visiting.  As the social binder (really for our class of ‘65), Dwight would make sure we got together for lunch when possible. I loved hearing stories of Ron’s teaching at Bothell and Woodinville High, and as his son Ryan alluded to, he was truly a master math teacher. I cannot help but think that our Bothell High calculus teacher, Mr. Spaulding, who we all truly adored, was a model for what Ron truly wanted to become in his career, and I know he succeeded in spades. Ron and his long-time high school sweetheart and wife, Gail, visited our property on the Hoko River out by Clallam Bay/Neah Bay Washington a few summers back and they and my wife Mary and I sat on the beach; without any hesitation, Ron and Gail’s two grandkids jumped into the river and swam all over the place.  In each visit I knew Ron’s kids and his grand kids were utmost in his thoughts and love, and with this visit I could see his adventurous grandkids knew how to use a beach and have the time of their lives, following Grandpa's style. I talked with Ron last this summer and the family was always utmost in his heart.  I hope his family realizes he would only want them to be okay and take care of themselves.  I pray that they do. Dale

In my memories of Ron, I picture him smiling with a little laugh.  I enjoyed reconnecting with him at one of our golf tournaments.   My condolences to Gail and his family.

So sorry to hear another one of my classmates has moved on to a other dimension. May family and friends be comforted. Ron was a great guy
