Allan Stephen Anderson Obituary

Allan Stephen Anderson

Allan Stephen Anderson passed away September 1, 2014, one day after turning 69 and just a few months after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Family members and several friends were able to be with Al during his last few days of life.

Al was born August 31, 1945, to Harold and Florence (Nelson) Anderson. His entire childhood was spent on the Sammamish River, adjacent to the Wayne Golf Course. It was here that Al developed his life-long passions for golf, diving for golf balls, boating, and waterskiing. Later, Al became an avid collector-buying and selling, but mostly buying and not selling, many things-scouring the region for everything from cars and real estate to cookware and farm implements, and acquiring new friends along the way.

Al graduated from Bothell High School in 1963, attended Everett Community College, and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He met Lynn Zabel in 1967; they married in 1973. Al and Lynn built a home on the Slough just downriver from his childhood home. Although Al and Lynn traveled in recent years-to England, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, and various places around the United States-Bothell was the center of Al's universe, and home was where his heart was. That was where Al and Lynn raised their family and where their three grandsons found a fun and loving home away from home. Other memorable times have been at the Zabel cabin in Tahuya on Hood Canal. Al took pride in his career as a Bothell firefighter, retiring in 2003 after 32 years of service; his son Steve, a firefighter in Shoreline, followed in his father's footsteps.

Left behind are Al's wife, Lynn; son Steve Anderson and daughter Jaimie (Sarkis) Johnsen; brother David (Karen) Anderson and sister Janine Anderson (Terry LeLievre); and grandsons Alden Johnsen, Elias Johnsen, and Logan Anderson; along with cousins and four nephews. Al also leaves behind many dear and caring friends. Al's mother Florence died 30 years ago, in 1984, also at age 69 and also from multiple myeloma; his father Harold died in 2000.

There will be a celebration of Al's life at 3:00 on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at the home of Ron and Sally-Jo Nardone, 22128 Paradise Lake Road, Snohomish, WA 98296. All are welcome! Remembrances can be made to benefit the Northshore Wall of Honor. Sign Allan's on line Guest Book @ www.Legacy.com.
