Terry Magill

Obituary For Terrell John Magill         5/7/1945 - 12/22/2023

On December 22, 2023, Terry Magill passed away at The Ridge assisted living facility in Silverdale, WA, after a hip fracture in July. He was trying to make it to January 9, 2024, so he and Cheryl could celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, but God had other plans and decided to bring him home.

Terrell John Magill was born at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, WA, on May 7, 1945, to Henry Edward Magill and Gwendolyn Beckstrom Magill of Bothell, WA. He was raised in Bothell and told lots of stories of how he used to lie in the middle of the road eating apples with his friends and would only get up when there was a car coming. Back in those days, there were not a lot of cars or people in Bothell. His great-grandfather built the first log cabin in Bothell (https://www.bothellwa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/313/Beckstrom-Cabin-Nomination-PDF), and his grandfather John Beckstrom was the first white baby born in Bothell. He was very proud of Bothell and told lots of stories about what it was like going to school and church there and having friends. Terry was a very sweet man with a great sense of humor who loved joking with his family and friends.

He graduated from high school in 1963 and went into the US Navy in 1964. He spent two years in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Midway. When he got out of the Navy, he came home and worked at the Bothell Fire Department as a firefighter and then transferred to the Seattle Fire Department. He was a firefighter for a total of 26 years.

Terry had two sons with his first wife Pam: Kevin Magill and Christopher Magill. He had a stepdaughter with his second wife Barbara: Jamie Halverson-Broussard. He had three stepchildren with his third wife Cheryl: Alyson Abrams DeVito, Caroline Abrams Vervoort, and Ronald Scott Abrams, Jr. Terry was lucky enough to have 10 grandchildren: Bryant, Olivia, Lizzie, Vivian, Adam, Vincent, Rosemary, Emma, Violet, and Angus as well as two great grandchildren. He loved them all so much.

Terry is in heaven now with his parents and grandparents. He is no longer in pain, for which we are grateful, but we will certainly miss him.

Terry's memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.

FROM Terry's Wife, Cheryl: posted earlier.....

To all those who do not yet know, my Terry passed away on Dec. 22 at 3:15 a.m. I miss him more than I can say. He was my hero. To those who do not know, he was a retired Seattle firefighter. He also fought in the Vietnam War on the naval airship Midway. I will have his service at the Tahoma National Cemetery but it will be later on, perhaps February or March. It depends on the weather up here. To everyone who has commented, please know that I appreciate your prayers more than you know. He is in heaven with Jesus, so I know he is so happy.
