July 11, 2011: Meeting Results:

URGENT UPDATE - July 5, 2011 The Municipal Council is holding a Public Hearing at noon, Saturday, July 9, at BICS, to obtain feedback from Bowen residents about the current, revised version of the Official Community Plan and three proposed bylaws based on it. Together these new bylaws would impose unprecedented controls and restrictions on the use and enjoyment of all types of private property. We believe these heavy-handed measures go far beyond what is reasonably required for safety and for the protection of Bowen's environment and water sources. In a mail flyer entitled RED ALERT distributed on Wednesday, July 6, we make the case for common sense in balancing environmental protection and property rights on Bowen. The flyer – sponsored by Bowen Island Improvement Association (BIIA) together with BowenBEAT -- is also available on our website. Click for:

Red Alert! Stop the Steamroller!

What are these Bylaws designed to fix?

Attend the Public Hearing July 9th

Let’s balance environmental protection with reason

Please read the flyer and express your views by letter to the Municipality (email – bim@bimbc.ca) before 4 p.m. Friday, July 8.

In addition, please attend the meeting at noon Saturday, July 9 at BICS and take the opportunity to express your views in person.

Time is short ... but our future depends on as many Bowen Islanders as possible adding their voices to a call for reason.
