James Jermaine "J.J." Jewell, 29, of Antioch, Tenn., died at 1:30 p.m. July 24, 2001, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident on I-65. The Warren County native was a youth counselor, a 1990 graduate of Warren Central High School, where he was a quarterback for the football team, and a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he was also a quarterback and established a school mark for total offense in a game.
He was a son of James T. Jewell and Judy Huffman-Jewell, both of Bowling Green. Survivors include a brother, Marcus Jewell of Bowling Green; and four sisters, Kim Mallory of Clarksville, Tenn., Sheronda Starks of Nashville, Tenn., Janet Barber of Bowling Green and Crystal Sutton of South Carolina.
