Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Helen (Morley) Estes, his son Brian Estes and his wife Jennifer of Veneta, Oregon, his daughter Wendy Estes-Zumpf and her husband Shane Zumpf of Laramie, Wyoming, his daughter Andrea Eagan and her husband Dennis of Lynn, and his granddaughters Emma and Addie Eagan. He was the beloved brother of Marjorie Sassman and her husband David of Aurora, Colorado, and Beverly Dand of Mansfield and her late husband Rae.

Bill was the son of the late Dorothy R. (Elliott) and Charles V. Estes. Bill was born and raised in Braintree, graduating from Braintree High School. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst on a gymnastics scholarship and earned his bachelor’s degree in biology and secondary education while there. Bill shared his curiosity for science and the world around him with countless students, teaching biology and chemistry at Randolph High School for 35 years. For a number of years, he developed curriculum for and taught courses at the College Academy summer program for gifted and talented youth, sponsored by Stonehill College. He also served as a financial advisor for Primerica Financial Services for many years. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist parish of East Bridgewater and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. John conference, assisting with the food pantry. Bill lived life. From scuba diving, motorcycling, surfing, and sky diving in his youth to his extensive travels with his family, he enjoyed adventures and new places. He loved camping, going on road trips and traveling to see natural wonders and many national parks throughout the U.S.A. and Canada. He instilled his love of science and nature in each of his children. Bill also believed in doing things right. He had a passion for tinkering, building, and fixing things. With his patience and precision, you knew any project he tackled was done to perfection. He also enjoyed auto racing, reading, and watching the Oregon Ducks and the Patriots play. Those who knew Bill will miss his quiet, calming presence, his kindness, and his wit. He is fondly remembered by his extended family, friends, colleagues, and former students.
