Single-Car Wreck Kills Hinton Teen

 


An 18-year-old Route 4, Hinton man was killed when the car he was riding in went out of control and crashed into a fence and utility pole early Sunday morning.

Kelly Lee Kile died after the crash on Va. 613 near the intersection of Va. 731 in the Clover Hill vicinity, state police reported.

Kile was a passenger in the car that went out of control before its right side slammed into the fence and utility pole about 1:10 a.m. Sunday, a dispatcher at the state police headquarters in Culpeper said, referring to an accident report.

The report did not indicate who the driver was or whether anyone else was injured in the crash, the dispatcher said. The trooper who investigated the crash was not on duty Sunday evening and could not be contacted for further details. Kelly L. Kile

Kelly Lee Kile, 18, Route 4, Hinton, died Oct. 6, 1996, as the result of injuries he received in an automobile accident Sunday morning.

Mr. Kile was born Feb. 15, 1978, in Rockingham County and was a son of Gerald Lee Kile and Patricia Fulk Kile of Hinton.

He lived in Rockingham County all his life and was a graduate of Turner Ashby High School. He was employed at Wampler Longacre in Harrisonburg and was a member of the Free Pentecostal Church.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Jeremy Kile, Criders and Gerald Kile Jr., at home; two sisters, Melinda Kile, at home and Taja Plaugher, Timberville; and grandmothers, Virginia Kile, Hinton and Effie Shafer, Fulks Run.

The Revs. David Kile and Pearl Richardson will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Free Pentecostal Church, East Washington Street, Harrisonburg. Burial will be in the Rawley Springs cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home.
